Event report

21st century cost-effective solutions in the water industry and water management from Hungary”

On Wednesday, 31 May 2017 the event 21st century cost-effective solutions in the water industry and water management from Hungary” was held with great success in Hanoi, it was jointly organized by the Ministry of National Resources and Environment of Vietnam and the Hungarian Water Cluster. The supporting partners of the event were the Hungarian Embassy in Hanoi and the Vietnam Water and Sewerage Association.

The event was attended by more than 50 registered visitors from ministries, organizations, utility companies, representatives of consulting companies, all involved in Vietnam’s water issues. During the event they got a deeper insight of the Hungarian cost-effective water technologies and business relationships between the two countries.

The significant interest clearly reflects that the Vietnamese market has a high demand for the Hungarian cost-efficient, modern technologies adapted to local conditions. A number of intergovernmental agreements have been concluded between the two countries over the last few months, where water and environmental protection were always a priority cooperation area. To achieve these goals the operational work has started when another 7 member companies together with the chairman of the Hungarian Water Cluster introduced themselves, offering their high-quality solutions.

The opening speeches were given by Mr Le Ngoc Tuan, Vice Manager of MONRE Department of International Cooperation, Mr Csaba Őry, Ambassador of Hungary to Vietnam, Mr Károly Kovács,  Chairman of Hungarian Water Cluster and Ung Quoc Dung, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Water and Wastewater Organization.

Besides the company introductions we got detailed informations about European and Hungarian regulatory trends and the experiences of an already succesfully implemented water project funded by ODA in Quang Binh province.

Various presentations in the morning were followed by a B2B forum, where the Vietnamese companies could start the information exchange, ask Hungarian professionals their questions and began negotiations on cooperation opportunities.

It was only a one day event, but the greatest success is that negotiations continued after the event, during the delegation’s stay in Vietnam.
